Come and participate in fun musical workshops to help create a new anthem for Milton Keynes at Chrysalis Theatre on Wednesday 27th April!

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

You will work with professional musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a relaxed, creative environment to come up with lyrics and musical ideas for an anthem celebrating the history and culture of Milton Keynes and women’s football in the city. The anthem will form part of the celebrations in the run up to and during the Women’s EURO 2022 tournament this summer.

MK is part of the consortium of host cities and the FA have secured funding to deliver an arts and heritage programme telling the story of women’s football, as well as celebrating the creativity of women and girls.

MK Council has secured funding from Arts Council England, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Canal and Rivers Trust and all of the LA’s involved in the tournament.

The workshops form part of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s project that forms part of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 cultural programme. The RPO is running workshops in all cities hosting matches for the football tournament to help devise a new anthem for each city.
In the workshops we will engage with participants to come up with musical and lyric ideas that will feed into the composition of the Milton Keynes anthem. Participants will work with 3 members of the orchestra and our workshop leader/composer.
There will be opportunities to perform the final Milton Keynes anthem in the MK fan zone on match days.

All abilities, styles and musical instruments welcome. No prior musical experience is required to take part, and a wide range of instruments will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring along acoustic instruments.

The workshop will take place in the Chrysalis Theatre on Wedneday 27th April.

Morning session: 10am – 12pm
